Over the past few months on and off we have experienced some pretty hot weather. I love hot weather and this is my favourite time of year especially when it is so hot we have an excuse to not actually move. For me this is a validation of lying around and reading time and a rare luxury. Our house does not have air conditioning but we do have ceiling fans and we have designed the home so that we can […]
Recently one of my girls asked me for some natural cleanser I immediately consulted my good friend Google and came up with an absolute plethora. I was astounded about how easy these recipes are. This is the first one we have tried and although it worked fantastically we will probably continue looking as my daughter was not super keen on the consistency. The ingredients are 1 cup of oatmeal, 1 teaspoon of honey and ¾ cup of warm water. Just […]

As the bowls only cost twenty dollars and a stainless steel basin was about ten times that much I thought it was worth a try. It has been a great success and the bowls are still going strong after consistent use over a long period of time. I am very lucky […]
I use this toothpaste as my preferred option nowadays but I can’t convince my family to make the switch from the chemically infiltrated commercial choices. If your family are more flexible it is cheap and easy to try. You will need: 2 teaspoons Bi-carbonate Soda 2 teaspoons salt, finely ground 2 drops peppermint pure essential oil A few drops of water Mix ingredients in a small bowl and combine thoroughly until a thick paste is formed. Scoop it on to your […]
I just LOVE my bathroom. These very beautiful windows were created by my husband, David. I think the key with keeping stained glass windows contemporary looking is to keep the designs simple and to a certain extent mathmatical. My input with these is limited to colour choice and the overall look but has he done a fantastic job? The window frames were originally purchased from a salvage yard and put in when the house was constructed. The stained glass came […]
